The Singapore Memerang have received a significant boost ahead of their inaugural Asian Championship campaign with Sea Ventures Maritime (SVM) officially signing on as gold and bronze sponsor of the Men’s National Rugby League team.
The Singapore Memerang will make their international debut on November 27 against the Japanese Samurai in the opening game of the Asian Championship.
Anchored in Shared Values
For Sea Ventures Maritime, a company renowned for being the leading maritime services provider for the past 20 years in Singapore, the decision to back the national team was driven by a strong alignment of corporate and sporting principles.
Tamika Baskar of SVM highlighted the synergy between the high-stakes nature of maritime operations and the demands of elite sports.
“Supporting the Singapore Rugby League is a natural extension of our values at SVM. Just as we work to ensure reliability and excellence at sea, we believe in backing teams that strive for excellence on the field. We’re proud to play a role in helping Singapore take its place on the rugby league map.”
Building a Legacy of High Performance
The sponsorship represents more than just financial backing for the upcoming tour; it is a strategic move to foster athletic development within the Singaporean community. As the Memerang prepare to face regional rivals Hong Kong, Japan and the Philippines in Manila, SVM views this alliance as a catalyst for the sport’s local growth.
Baskar emphasized that SVM is looking beyond the scoreboard, focusing instead on the infrastructure of success.
“Our partnership with the Singapore Rugby League is more than sponsorship—it’s a long-term investment in building a high-performance environment for local athletes. We want to see the sport grow, the team succeed, and Singapore represented with strength and belief at the Asian Championships and beyond.”
Resilience on the Field and at Sea
Rugby League is widely regarded as one of the most physically demanding team sports in the world, requiring a unique blend of grit and tactical intelligence. It is these specific characteristics that drew SVM to the sport.
“Rugby league is a sport built on resilience, discipline, and teamwork – the same principles that drive our work in maritime management,” Padmanaban explained. “Supporting the team allows us to champion those shared values while contributing to a developing sport in our community.”
As the Singapore Memerang prepare to take the field in the Philippines later this month, they do so with the wind in their sails, backed by a partner committed to navigating the journey toward international success alongside them
